The record-breaking is becoming too much, we are exhausted and no longer interested – Salma Mumin

Ghanaian actress who doubles as a businesswoman, Salma Mumin thinks the numerous attempts by Ghanaians to be recognized by the Guinness World Record are becoming too much and problematic.

Speaking with Graphic Showbiz, the businesswoman has said that there should be a stop to the many attempts to break a record.

Salma Mumin admitted that when it started late December last year, it was okay, however, most attempts recently do not make any sense, the reason why most celebrities have refused to go and support some of these attemptees unlike they did for Afua Asantewaa and Chef Faila who began.

“The aim to break and set new GWR is becoming too many and increasingly bothersome. To me, it is everything wrong. What is all this ‘thon thon’ craze for?” she said.

“This is becoming too much, which is why there has even been a decline in interest in the trend; people are not supportive of those participating at the moment. What do we seek to gain? Some of them are unnecessary. We should just put a stop to that”, she added.

Salma also attributed the reason why people are not showing interest in the ongoing attempts to the fact that the attemptees are abusing it and most of the attempts do not make sense anymore.

“We are tired already and you can tell people are no longer interested in the ongoing attempts like the earlier ones. It is because our people are abusing it and so we no longer find the need to support them,” Salma Mumin added.

On December 24, 2023, Afua Asantewaa embarked on a task to set the record for the longest-singing marathon in the Guinness World Record.

The historic event took place in Akwaaba village, located in Accra, Ghana.

Vice President, Bawumia, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Kuami Eugene, Kwabena Kwabena, Lilwin, and Becca, among other personalities, went to support her.
