Okyeame Kwame the ‘rap dacta’ has begged the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) to shun Ghanaian celebrities and focus much on Ghanaian politicians.
Speaking on the ‘New Day’ show with Berla Mundi on Accra-based TV3, Okyeame Kwame has said that he has been in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years and he is yet to see a Ghanaian musician, actor, actress, or any celebrity who is a criminal.
Okyeame Kwame divulged that celebrities in Ghana are suffering financially so instead of the EOCO investigating celebrities, they should rather focus their energy on Ghanaian politicians.
According to Okyeame Kwame, Ghanaian politicians flaunt expensive cars and houses, however, the story is different when it comes to celebrities in Ghana, questioning Ghanaians to name a Ghanaian celebrity who is very rich.
“I have been in the celebrity space for 20-something years, I do not think they will find any artists who are “criminals” or many celebs and filmmakers because these people are suffering. It is very difficult to be in this industry as an influencer or artiste and then just by that be able to survive. I have not seen celebrities in Ferraris or Maybachs or Porsche cars or multimillion-dollar mansions. Where are they? Show me one,” the Ghanaian rapper confidently said.
“However, the people that I have seen living lavishly are politicians. I have seen civil servants who make maybe ₵14000 a month and driving S-class,” he added.
Okyeame Kwame believes if the EOCO is to investigate Ghanaian celebrities, they would not need ample to do that because no Ghanaian celebrity is a criminal.
“They are going to start investigating celebrities and in less than 30 days, they will be done because it is obvious that there are no or very few celebrities who are enjoying unwarranted wealth”, he said.
