Akufo-Addo honors Bawumia, NAPO, Hawa Koomson, and others with National Awards

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP running mate Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Mavis Hawa Koomson, and many others honoured by President Akufo-Addo at 2024 Ghana National and Awards ceremony. Here’s why and full list of winners…

President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has rewarded some distinguished personalities in the country for their hard work and service to Ghana at the 2024 Ghana National Honours and Awards ceremony.

These included Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Mavis Hawa Kommson, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and many others.

The Vice President was solely honoured with the prestigious “Order of the Star of Ghana – Officer Award” for his service and role towards national development, contributions to the economy, and initiatives to drive forward Ghana’s digital landscape.

The Order of the Star of Ghana is the highest national honour, with the Officer rank representing exceptional service in both the public and private sectors.

His running for the 2024 general elections, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh was awarded the “Order of the Volta, Officer Award” for his work in public service. Mavs Hawa Koomson and Ursula Owusu-Ekuful were awarded in the same category.

With accolades for their noteworthy contributions to music and the arts going to Daddy Lumba, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, and Juliet Asante, the creative arts sector was also well-represented.

The ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Monday, December 30, 2024, acknowledged Ghanaians who have excelled in their respective industries over the years.
