Actor and media personality Harold Amenyah has shed light on the decision to marry his wife, Irene Owusu, exactly one year after they met.
According to Harold, the couple crossed paths on April 1, 2022, and marked their first anniversary by tying the knot in a private wedding ceremony on the same date a year later.
Speaking about the choice of date, Harold explained that while many assumed the announcement was an April Fools’ prank, the day actually held deep sentimental value for them.
Before meeting Irene, the actor revealed he had been single for three years. He described their connection as instant, noting that he knew early on she was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
Their wedding was a modest and intimate event, attended by about 100 close friends and family. In respect of his wife’s preference for privacy, guests were asked not to use their phones during the ceremony. Despite this, photos from the occasion were leaked by some attendees, sparking widespread attention online.
The leaked images triggered a wave of social media chatter, with some comments directed at his wife’s appearance drawing criticism. Harold admitted the backlash was painful but said it ultimately offered his wife a valuable lesson about the public scrutiny that comes with marrying a public figure.
Despite the early challenges, Harold noted that they have since moved past the incident and continue to enjoy a happy marriage.
