Highlife musician Dada KD has announced that he is stepping back from engaging in political and governance matters, citing a lack of energy and interest.
Speaking on Accra FM, the veteran singer said he’s no longer emotionally invested in such discussions.
“The strength to talk about these things is gone,” he said. “I’ve reached a point where I’m just doing what I can, and when my time comes, I’ll go peacefully. If I dwell too much on political issues, I might end up drinking myself into trouble.”
During the interview, a listener jokingly suggested that former President Nana Akufo-Addo should have bought a car for him. In response, Dada KD quipped, “Why? Am I his child?”
He clarified that although he has been associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he is not a registered member.
“I’ve never received anything from the party, but no matter the situation, we’ve remained loyal,” he added.
Asked about his expectations for John Mahama’s incoming administration, Dada KD was cautious. “Let’s just watch and see what they’ll do,” he said, opting not to delve into political predictions.
