1. Jerry John Rawlings – Junior Jesus and Papa J
Jerry John Rawlings was the first president of the Fourth Republic. Many people called him “Papa J” out of affection and respect. Others called him “Junior Jesus” because of how he stood for justice and the poor during his military days and early political career. He was seen as a saviour by some people.
2. John Agyekum Kufuor – Gentle Giant
President Kufuor was often called the “Gentle Giant.” This nickname came from his calm and peaceful way of speaking, even though he was a tall and big man. He was known for promoting good governance and development with a peaceful approach.
3. John Evans Atta Mills – Asomdwehene
Professor Mills was nicknamed “Asomdwehene,” which means “King of Peace” in Twi. He was known for his peaceful and humble nature. Even when political tension was high, he always promoted peace and unity.
4. John Dramani Mahama – JM and Terminator 1
President Mahama is often called “JM,” which are his initials. In his second term as president in 2025, he was named “Terminator 1” due to the termination of appointment letters he did.
5. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo – Addo Show Boy and King Promise
President Akufo-Addo is sometimes called “Addo Show Boy” because of his confidence and appearance. Some also call him “King Promise” because he made many promises during his campaigns. Critics use this nickname to say that he made too many promises that were not fulfilled.
