Afua Asantewaa, a Ghanaian woman who recently tried to break a singing world record again, has been disqualified by Guinness World Records. She made this announcement on her official Facebook page on Thursday, 8th May, 2025.
This was her second attempt to set the record for the longest time spent singing continuously, but unfortunately, her effort was not accepted.
In her first try, Afua sang for days in an attempt to beat the record. Although she received a lot of support from Ghanaians and gained popularity, Guinness World Records did not approve the outcome because she did not meet all the required guidelines. Despite this setback, Afua remained hopeful and decided to try again.
For her second attempt, she prepared more carefully, hoping to meet every rule set by the organizers. She and her team worked hard and believed they had a strong chance of success this time. However, Guinness World Records reviewed the details of her performance and again found issues that caused her to be disqualified.
She was disqualified because she took longer breaks instead of the maximum five minutes required in each hour. Even though Afua did not break the record, many people in Ghana continue to admire her courage and determination.
She has become an inspiration to many young people who want to follow their dreams. Her story shows that even when things do not go as planned, trying again is a brave and important step. Afua has not said whether she will make a third attempt, but her efforts have already made her a well-known name in Ghana and beyond.
Whether she tries again or not, Afua Asantewaa’s journey teaches us all about persistence, strength, and believing in ourselves even after facing failure.
