The Minister for Communications and Digitization, Hon. Sam George, has come out to defend the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, after recent public criticisms following his donations to some party members.
In a Facebook post on Monday, 12th May, 2025, Sam George acknowledged that while people may disagree with who Sammy gave to and what he gave, it is important to be fair to him. According to him, Sammy Gyamfi is someone who has always stood by others and continues to do so.
“We fall, we learn, we rise!” Sam George wrote. “A comrade who has stood with many and continues to do so. You may have issues with who he gave to and what he gave but let’s be fair to the young man.”
He further revealed that since he became a minister, Sammy Gyamfi has been the most persistent person contacting him to help secure jobs for NDC supporters.
“Since I have been appointed, Sammy is the most troublesome person on my phone looking for jobs for party people. It is who he is,” Sam George stated.
The minister admitted that he understands the criticisms being directed at Sammy, but encouraged him to stay strong and respond to any queries. He also reminded him that many people still respect and care for him.
“I can relate with all the attacks but Sammy Gyamfi, keep your head up, respond to the query but always know you have the respect and affection of many,” he added, ending with lion and Ghana flag emojis.
This comes after Sammy Gyamfi donated several vehicles, motorcycles, and equipment to support the NDC’s communication efforts across different regions. Some people have questioned the motive and fairness behind the donations, sparking a debate on social media.
