The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, has presented 60 new pickup vehicles and 20 motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service. This donation is to help the police support the country’s new 24-hour economy initiative.
According to the Minister, the government is setting up a special unit within the police service. This unit will focus on providing 24-hour security for workers and businesses that operate day and night under the 24-hour economy plan introduced by President John Mahama. He made this revelation on his Facebook page on Tuesday, 13th May, 2025.
The vehicles were assembled in Ghana by Zonda Tec, a local company. Hon. Muntaka said this shows the government’s strong support for local manufacturing and its efforts to improve the operations of Ghana’s security agencies.
During his visit to Zonda Tec’s assembly plant, the Minister also announced that the Ministry of the Interior is working to digitalise the process for work permits and quotas. He explained that this move will make it easier and faster for businesses to get the permits they need to operate legally in the country.
He used the occasion to encourage businesses in Ghana to expand and grow, but reminded them to always follow the laws of the land. He assured the public that the Ministry is doing its best to ensure peace, safety, and security across the country.
Madam Yang Yang, the Chief Executive Officer of Zonda Tec, said she was proud that her company is playing a role in improving national security. She also stressed the importance of supporting local industries that serve national institutions like the Ghana Police Service.
This donation is part of the government’s promise to make Ghana a safer place and help grow the economy through constant support for businesses and local production.
