The Bank of Ghana has released the official exchange rates for major foreign currencies as of Wednesday, 14th May 2025. These rates serve as a guide for banks and other financial institutions when trading foreign currencies.
According to the information published by the central bank, the US Dollar, British Pound, and Euro continue to remain the top traded foreign currencies in the country. The exchange rates reflect how much it costs to buy or sell these currencies in Ghanaian Cedis.
The US Dollar (USD) is being bought at GH¢12.5937 and sold at GH¢12.6063.
The British Pound Sterling (GBP) is being bought at GH¢16.7383 and sold at GH¢16.7576.
The Euro (EUR) is being bought at GH¢14.0788 and sold at GH¢14.0926.
These rates are based on the average interbank exchange rates used by commercial banks at the close of business on Tuesday, 13th May 2025.
The buying rate shows how much a bank will pay to purchase a foreign currency, while the selling rate is the price at which the bank will sell the foreign currency to customers. The difference between the buying and selling rates is often used by banks to cover operational costs and profit margins.
These exchange rates are important for individuals and businesses that deal with international transactions. Importers, exporters, travelers, and even parents sending money to their children abroad often check these rates before making any currency-related decisions.
This daily update helps promote transparency and ensures Ghanaians are well-informed about the value of their currency in the global market.
