The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has spoken in support of Sammy Gyamfi following the controversy surrounding his cash donation to Evangelist Mama Pat, also known as Agradaa. He has sent him a message, urging him to continue doing good because there is no crime in making donations.
Speaking during an interview on UTV on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, A Plus stated clearly that Sammy Gyamfi did nothing wrong. He said that Sammy Gyamfi is a man of his own means and has been giving out money to people even before the National Democratic Congress (NDC) came to power.
“Sammy Gyamfi has been helping people long ago. He didn’t just start giving now. Even when the NDC was not in power, he was making donations. So why are people suddenly angry now?” A Plus asked.
He advised Sammy Gyamfi not to stop doing good because of the backlash he is facing. According to him, it is better to give than to explain yourself to people who are already determined to criticize you.
“Sammy should continue giving. He shouldn’t allow this issue to stop him from helping others. We all know his heart, and it is in the right place,” A Plus added.
A Plus also criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for organizing a press conference to speak against Sammy Gyamfi’s actions. He said that the NPP is using the issue as a distraction and is overreacting.
“Why should a whole political party hold a press conference just because someone gave money to someone else? Don’t they have more important things to do?” he questioned.
Many Ghanaians continue to share their opinions on the matter, with some defending Sammy Gyamfi and others criticizing his choice to support a controversial figure like Agradaa.
