The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has today, Thursday, 15th May, 2025, announced that there will be a power outage in parts of Accra on Sunday, May 18, 2025. This announcement was made on ECG’s official Facebook page.
This is because the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) will be carrying out planned maintenance works at the Mallam Bulk Supply Point.
According to a public notice, the maintenance works are scheduled to take place between 9:00 in the morning and 4:00 in the afternoon. The purpose of the maintenance is to improve electricity supply and service delivery in the affected areas.
As a result, many communities will experience a temporary interruption in electricity. The areas expected to be affected include Odorkor, Awoshie, Sakaman, Mallam, Darkuman, Santa Maria, Kwashieman, Sowutuom, Ablekuma, Tabora, Joma, Manhean, Gbawe, Weija, West Hills Mall, Oblogo, Anyaa, Bortianor, McCarthy Hills, Mandela, Sunda Industries, Tuba, Dunkonaa, and Dansoman.
ECG, in the statement, said it regrets the inconvenience the power cut may cause to individuals, businesses, and households. However, the company emphasized that the exercise is necessary to help improve power supply in the long term.
The public is advised to take note of the date and time of the power interruption and to plan their activities accordingly. ECG also assured customers that power will be restored as soon as the maintenance works are completed.
