Popular Ghanaian journalist and social commentator, Kevin Taylor, has caused a stir online after releasing what he calls exclusive documents against Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo. In a Facebook post, Kevin accused the Chief Justice of serious misconduct, claiming she used her position to benefit her family illegally.
According to Kevin Taylor, Chief Justice Torkornoo was not only paying per diem (daily allowance) to her husband and daughters without legal backing but was also awarding government contracts to her own daughter. He revealed that these contracts were given out through a restricted tendering process, raising concerns about fairness and corruption.
He questioned how someone expected to protect and uphold the law could allegedly break the law for personal and family gain. “Someone who was supposed to be the protector of the law was rather abusing the law with her office and powers,” he wrote. He ended his post by saying, “It’s such a shame!”. To back his claim, Kevin Taylor has released document evidence.
These fresh allegations come just as a five-member committee, chaired by Justice Gabriel Pwamang, begins its investigation into three petitions filed against the Chief Justice. She has already been suspended after a prima facie case was established, and the committee is expected to meet three times a week.
Kevin Taylor’s claims have further increased public interest in the case, with many Ghanaians now demanding transparency and accountability. Some believe these revelations could seriously affect the outcome of the investigation.
As tension rises, all eyes are now on the committee to find out whether these allegations will be added to the case or if more evidence will come out. The coming days promise to be heated as the nation awaits the truth.
