Ghanaians across the country are reacting with joy and relief as Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has finally returned to Ghana after weeks of medical treatment in the United Kingdom. This is according to a report by Citi FM on Thursday, 22nd May, 2025.
Jane Naana fell sick on March 28, 2025, shortly after work and was rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra. She later travelled to the UK for further treatment and rest on medical advice. While she was away, government officials assured Ghanaians that she was in stable condition and receiving the best care.
After spending several weeks abroad to focus on her health, the Vice President touched down in Accra this week. Her return has brought smiles to many, especially members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who have been praying for her recovery.
Some Ghanaians took to social media to welcome her back. Messages such as “Welcome home our mother,” “Ghana is proud of you,” and “We thank God for your life” were posted by many supporters. Others praised her strength and leadership, saying that even during her medical leave, she continued to inspire hope.
Since her return, Jane Naana has expressed gratitude to all Ghanaians who prayed and showed concern during her illness. She thanked medical staff both in Ghana and abroad for their support and care. She also said she is feeling much better and ready to return to work fully.
Her return is seen as a good sign, especially as the country moves toward the 2028 elections. Many believe her presence will strengthen the government and the NDC’s efforts in governance.
Ghanaians are hopeful that she will continue to serve the country with wisdom and compassion. For now, the message from the people is clear: “Welcome back, Professor Naana Jane!”
