Popular Ghanaian evangelist Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa or Evangelist Mama Pat, is facing a serious legal challenge.
Gospel musician Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye has filed a lawsuit against her at the Tema High Court, demanding a total of Twenty Million Ghana Cedis (GH¢20,000,000.00) as compensation for slander and defamation. Evidence of the lawsuit was published by the husband of Hopeson Adorye on his Facebook page on Wednesday, 21st May, 2025.
According to court documents, Empress Gifty claims that Nana Agradaa made false and damaging statements about her. These statements, she says, have affected her reputation and caused emotional and professional harm.
The lawsuit also includes a request for the court to place a perpetual injunction on Nana Agradaa. This would stop her and anyone acting on her behalf from repeating or publishing similar statements about Empress Gifty in the future.
In addition, the gospel singer is asking the court to order Nana Agradaa to remove all videos and audios containing the alleged defamatory comments from all her social media platforms. Empress Gifty wants these videos taken down immediately as part of the legal relief.
The suit, which was filed by Empress Gifty’s legal team—Ossei-Aidooh Akpokavie Kyere & Co.—at the Tema High Court, also seeks compensation for legal costs, including lawyer’s professional fees.
The defendant, Nana Agradaa, has eight days from the date of the court summons (issued on May 20, 2025) to respond to the claims. Failure to respond within this period could result in the court delivering judgment in her absence.
This case has drawn public attention due to the fame of both parties involved. Empress Gifty is a well-known gospel artist and public figure, while Nana Agradaa is a controversial evangelist who has made headlines in the past for various issues.
