A group called the Concerned Lawyers of the NPP has sent a strong message to Joy News journalist and lawyer, Samson Lardy Ayenini. They are asking him to take back what they call “unprofessional and unethical” comments made about Kennedy Agyapong on his Newsfile program. They are giving him seven days to apologize publicly or face legal actions.
In a press statement on Sunday, 18th May, 2025, the lawyers said Samson’s recent statements on the Newsfile show went beyond the limits of responsible journalism. They believe his remarks were not only unfair but also harmful to the image of both Kennedy Agyapong and the entire judicial system in Ghana.
According to the lawyers, Samson accused Kennedy Agyapong of being corrupt and benefiting from illegal political activities without providing any real proof. They said such statements are dangerous and misleading, especially since no court has found Kennedy guilty of such actions.
They also criticized Samson for saying that Ghana’s judiciary is not as good as that of the United States, calling his statement disrespectful and damaging to the country’s courts.
The lawyers warned that if Samson does not retract his words, they will report him to the National Media Commission, the General Legal Council, and also take the matter to court. They believe his actions are damaging the image of the legal profession and hurting public trust in the justice system.
In response, Samson Lardy Ayenini posted a message on Facebook. He said he has not received any official letter but is aware of the statement. He claimed that someone close to Kennedy Agyapong threatened him over the phone. Samson added that he always speaks based on facts and law, and will not be intimidated.
He also said he will not join any media arguments or interviews about the issue, and he is ready to provide proof of everything he said if the matter is taken to the appropriate authorities.
