The Ghanaian Cedi has gained more value against the Nigerian Naira, as one Cedi is now worth 130.40 Naira. This shows a major drop in the value of the Naira compared to the Cedi.
In addition to the performance against the Naira, the Bank of Ghana has released its latest exchange rates for Tuesday, 20th May 2025. These figures are based on the average interbank rates used by commercial banks at the close of business on Monday, 19th May 2025.
For the US Dollar, the Cedi is buying at GHS 12.2239 and selling at GHS 12.2361. This means anyone exchanging dollars for cedis will receive about 12.22 cedis for one dollar, while those buying dollars will need about 12.24 cedis for each dollar.
When it comes to the British Pound, the Cedi is buying at GHS 16.3250 and selling at GHS 16.3438. This shows the Pound remains one of the strongest currencies globally, with the Cedi needing over 16 units to buy just one Pound.
The Euro is also performing strongly against the Cedi. The Bank of Ghana’s rates show the Euro buying at GHS 13.7358 and selling at GHS 13.7493. This makes it slightly more affordable than the Pound, but still a tough currency for the Cedi to match.
These daily exchange rates from the Bank of Ghana serve as a guide for banks, forex bureaus, businesses, and individuals who trade or travel internationally. Even though the Cedi is performing well against the Naira, it still faces pressure from major global currencies like the Dollar, Pound, and Euro.
