President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has sent a strong and inspiring message to mark this year’s Africa Day, which is being celebrated across the continent today, May 25, 2025.
In a post on his Facebook page on Sunday, 25th May, 2025, John Mahama called on all Africans and people of African descent around the world to work together to build a better future. He urged Africans to stand united and ensure that justice and fairness are available to everyone, no matter their background.
“Happy Africa Day! Let us work together to build a future where justice prevails, where the wounds of the past are healed, and where the potential of every African and person of African descent is fully realised,” Mahama stated in a message shared on his social media pages.
He added that Africa Day 2025 should be a turning point for the continent, where its people decide to move forward together with one goal — to create a just and equal society.
“Let Africa Day 2025 be a turning point. Let us move forward, united in purpose, towards a just and equitable future for all Africans and people of African descent,” he added.
Africa Day is celebrated each year on May 25 to mark the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now known as the African Union (AU), in 1963. It is a day to reflect on the progress made by African countries and to remind everyone of the struggles and victories of the continent.
John Mahama’s message comes at a time when many African countries are still facing challenges like poverty, conflict, and inequality. His call for unity and justice reminds Africans of the need to stay strong together in building a better and brighter future for all.
