The Bank of Ghana has officially released the daily exchange rates for Monday, May 26, 2025. These rates show how much the Ghanaian cedi is worth when exchanged for some of the major international currencies, including the US Dollar, British Pound, and Euro.
According to the Bank, one US Dollar is being bought at a rate of GH₵10.9445 and sold at GH₵10.9555. This means if someone wants to change US Dollars into cedis at a bank, they will get GH₵10.9445 for every dollar. However, if they want to buy US Dollars from the bank, they will pay GH₵10.9555 per dollar.
For the British Pound Sterling, the buying rate is GH₵14.7707 while the selling rate is GH₵14.7866. The British Pound continues to be the most expensive of the three major currencies listed by the Bank of Ghana.
As for the Euro, the buying rate is GH₵12.4051, and the selling rate is GH₵12.4174. This shows a slight difference between the buying and selling prices, just like with the other currencies.
These rates are based on the average interbank rates used by commercial banks for their transactions at the end of business on Friday, May 23, 2025. Interbank rates refer to the rates at which banks buy and sell foreign currencies among themselves.
The daily exchange rates are important for many people, especially businesses that import or export goods, students studying abroad, and Ghanaians who receive money from friends or family overseas.
The Bank of Ghana usually updates these rates daily to reflect current market trends and currency values. It is always a good idea to check with your bank before making any currency exchange, as rates may slightly differ from one bank to another.
