A popular news presenter from UTV, Abena Kyei Boakye, is asking for clear answers from President John Mahama and the government about why Dr. Anne Sansa Daly was removed from the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). She made this statement while speaking on U TV’s morning show on Thursday, 29th May, 2025.
Her call follows reports that Anne Sansa Daly may not have had a valid license to practice medicine in Ghana.
On Monday, May 26, 2025, a letter from the Office of the President revealed that President John Dramani Mahama had revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly with immediate effect. She has been replaced by Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke, a well-known medical expert.
Even though the official letter did not explain the reason for her removal, some media reports have claimed that Anne Sansa Daly used fake certificates and was never licensed as a medical doctor in Ghana. These allegations have raised serious concerns about how she was appointed to such an important position.
Speaking on UTV News, Abena Kyei Boakye said the government must explain the real reason behind Anne Sansa Daly’s removal. She said Ghanaians deserve to know the truth because the NHIA is responsible for providing affordable healthcare, and it is important to have honest and qualified people managing it.
“This is not a small matter. If someone without the right medical license was sitting on the NHIA Board, then we must ask serious questions. Who allowed this to happen? What checks were done before her appointment? Ghanaians need answers,” she stated.
Abena Kyei Boakye also called on the Ministry of Health and the Presidency to open an investigation into the matter and share the findings with the public.
Many Ghanaians have joined her call on social media, demanding more transparency in how board members are selected for public institutions like the NHIA.
