The President of Ghana has removed Anne Sansa Daly from her position as a member of the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). The decision, which took immediate effect, was communicated in an official letter from the Office of the President, dated May 23, 2025.
According to the letter signed by Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., Secretary to the President, the President has nominated Prof. Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke to replace Anne Sansa Daly on the NHIA Board. The Ministry of Health has been directed to take the necessary steps to swear in the new board member.
Although the letter from the Presidency did not provide reasons for the sudden revocation, reports have surfaced suggesting that Anne Sansa Daly may have used fake certificates to secure her appointment. It is also alleged that she was never a qualified medical doctor, as she had previously claimed. These serious allegations may have influenced the President’s decision to revoke her appointment.
Anne Sansa Daly’s removal comes at a time when the government is taking steps to ensure greater transparency and accountability in public institutions. The National Health Insurance Authority plays a key role in the healthcare system of Ghana, and the integrity of its board members is considered vital to the success of the institution.
Her replacement, Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke, is a well-respected medical professional. His appointment is expected to bring credibility and experience to the NHIA Board, especially at a time when healthcare delivery remains a top priority for the government.
The Office of the President also copied the letter to the Vice President and the Chief of Staff, both at Jubilee House, Accra, as part of the official communication process.
Ghanaians will be looking forward to a swift investigation into the allegations surrounding Anne Sansa Daly, as the government continues its efforts to promote ethical leadership and trust in public service.
