According to a report by Ghana National Fire Service on Thursday, 29th May, 2025, a Yutong bus carrying 34 passengers caught fire at Gomoa Antseadze on the Accra–Mankessim highway in the Central Region. The bus, with registration number GT 4346-16, was traveling from Accra to Bogoso when the unfortunate incident happened.
According to reports, the bus suddenly caught fire in the middle of the journey. The passengers quickly got off the bus to avoid harm. Thankfully, no lives were lost.
Firefighters were quickly called to the scene. When they arrived, they saw that the bus was already in flames. The fire crew worked hard and managed to bring the fire under control within minutes. They also made sure the fire was completely put out.
Although the cause of the fire is not yet known, the fire destroyed many items on board the bus. Personal belongings of passengers, bales of second-hand clothes, cosmetics, food items, and artificial hair were all burnt. The fire left many passengers sad as they lost valuable items.
However, the firefighters were able to save some items before the fire got worse. Some cosmetics, food items, and artificial hair were recovered. The bus itself was also saved from complete destruction.
This incident has shocked many people, especially those who travel on that road regularly. Some passengers said they were scared for their lives and are thankful that no one got injured.
Authorities are now investigating what may have caused the fire. The Ghana National Fire Service is urging all vehicle owners to regularly check the condition of their vehicles to avoid such accidents in the future.
