“The manner in which EOCO has approached Wontumi’s arrest lacks the necessary transparency and clarity that such high-profile cases demand,” Kpebu remarked. “There are indications that due process may not have been entirely followed, and this raises serious questions about the motivations behind the actions taken.”
He pointed out that EOCO’s failure to clearly communicate the specific charges against Wontumi has only fueled public speculation and confusion. “When someone of Wontumi’s stature is arrested, it is critical that the legal grounds are publicly stated. Without that, the public space becomes vulnerable to rumors and misinformation,” he added.
