The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has paid a courtesy visit to the former President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at his private residence in Nima, Accra.
This visit happened on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, just a day after Otumfuo Osei Tutu met with President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang at the Jubilee House.
The visit to Nana Akufo-Addo’s house was part of the Asantehene’s efforts to engage Ghana’s past and present leaders in discussions about peace, unity, and national development. The Asantehene was warmly welcomed by the former President and his family.
During the visit, Otumfuo praised Nana Akufo-Addo for his service to the country during his time as president from 2017 to 2025. He thanked him for the roles he played in improving education, health, and infrastructure in the country.
Otumfuo also shared his concerns about illegal mining, the destruction of water bodies, and the need for all leaders—past and present—to speak with one voice on national issues. He encouraged the former president to continue offering advice and support to the current government to help move Ghana forward.
Nana Akufo-Addo, in his response, thanked Otumfuo for the visit and praised him for his leadership and wisdom over the years. He said the Asantehene’s voice is respected across Ghana and even beyond. He also stated that he is always ready to support any effort that promotes the peace and progress of Ghana.
Otumfuo’s back-to-back meetings with both President Mahama and former President Akufo-Addo show his deep interest in uniting Ghana’s political leaders for the good of the country.
Many Ghanaians have praised the Asantehene for his efforts, saying his leadership is helping to bring peace, wisdom, and guidance at a time when the country needs it most.
