In a bid to advance the proposed National Theatre in Kumasi, Mr. Rex Owusu Marfo, coordinator of the Black Star Experience, paid a working visit to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.

The meeting, held on March 7, 2025, focused on discussions regarding a suitable land allocation for the theatre project, a promise made by former President John Dramani Mahama in his 2024 Creative Manifesto.

The initiative aims to decentralise Ghana’s arts and culture scene, providing a platform for regional talents and fostering cultural expression. It is expected to stimulate the creative economy, create job opportunities, and enhance the cultural landscape of the Ashanti Region.

During the meeting, Rex Omar also introduced a proposed project centred around the Lake Bosomtwe enclave. While details of this project remain undisclosed, it is expected to be unveiled to the media and the public in due course.

Mr. Owusu Marfo expressed his gratitude to the minister for his interest in the creative industry following their deliberations.

Both projects are anticipated to boost tourism, generate employment, and drive economic development in the Ashanti Region. This aligns with the president’s vision to position Ghana as the leading tourism destination in West Africa, as outlined in the NDC Manifesto under the Black Star Experience initiative.
