The 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) is taking a new turn as organisers implement restrictions on who can appear on the red carpet.
This year, only celebrities and dignitaries who have been officially invited will be allowed onto the red carpet.
According to the organisers, there will be two separate red carpet sessions: one for general media interviews and photoshoots, and the main session where the iconic “Who are you wearing?” interviews will take place. To appear on the main red carpet—which will be televised—an official invitation is required.
This move aims to bring order and professionalism to the red carpet proceedings.
Over the years, many have raised concerns about the quality of red carpet appearances, with some criticising the inclusion of so-called ‘celebrities’ and the lack of proper curation, which often extended the duration unnecessarily.
Others have also expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of outfits showcased, describing many as subpar.
With the new directive, the 2025 TGMA red carpet promises a more polished and organised experience.
The 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre. Produced by Charterhouse, the event is brought to you by Guinness, British Council, Close-Up, KPMG, and TV3, and powered by Telecel – Connecting Energies.
