Professor Stephen Adei, a respected economist and expert in governance, has rated President Mahama’s performance and achievements in his first 120 days in ofidce.
According to Prof. Adei, Mahama has made a strong start and fulfilled many promises he made in his 120-day social contract with the people of Ghana.
Speaking in an interview on JoyNews on Wednesday, May 7, Prof. Adei said, “Anyone who looks at the situation honestly will agree that Mahama has done a very good job so far.” He pointed out some important actions taken by the President, such as reducing the size of government, changing certain policies, and reopening investigations that many Ghanaians have been asking for over the years.
Even though he praised Mahama’s performance, Prof. Adei also warned Ghanaians not to get carried away or celebrate too early. He reminded the public that during President Akufo-Addo’s first term, he also performed well at the beginning, but things got worse during his second term. Prof. Adei believes that strong beginnings can sometimes lead to disappointment if they are not followed by consistent progress.
He stressed the importance of staying focused and working hard throughout the entire term. “Mahama is doing well, but we should not overpraise him yet,” he said. “What matters most is whether he can continue this good work, fix any mistakes, and deliver the kind of Ghana we all want to see.”
Prof. Adei ended by encouraging the President and his team to keep up the hard work, improve where necessary, and make sure their efforts benefit the country in the long run.
This comes at a time when many Ghanaians are closely watching the government’s steps, especially after inflation dropped to 21.2%, the lowest in eight months.
