The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD) and National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has broken his silence following public backlash over a viral video of him giving money to Evangelist Mama Pat, also known as Nana Agradaa.
In a Facebook post made on Sunday, May 11, 2025, Sammy Gyamfi admitted that he has seen and heard the many criticisms directed at him in the past 24 hours. According to him, the act of giving money to Nana Agradaa was simply a kind gesture and not meant to create controversy.
He explained that he has always believed in helping people in need and that this action was part of his everyday life. He said he did not know the act would become public and go viral on social media. “I sincerely thought that I was doing this act of kindness in private, and never imagined that same could find its way into the public space,” he wrote.
Gyamfi added that he understands why many people, especially members of his party, are upset and disappointed. “To all such comrades, I AM SINCERELY SORRY for this unfortunate act of indiscretion,” he said, showing humility and remorse for the situation.
He also thanked those who called to advise and encourage him during this difficult moment. Despite the criticisms, he stated that his desire to serve the public and help solve problems has not changed.
“I remain focused on the task entrusted to me by His Excellency, the President, for the development of our country,” he said.
