Prophet Kofi Oduro, the founder and leader of Alabaster International Ministry, has made shocking revelations about those involved in illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, in Ghana.
In a Sunday sermon on May 11, 2025, Prophet Oduro revealed that some of the people who are supposed to protect the environment, especially the forest, are actually involved in galamsey. According to him, these individuals, who are meant to safeguard Ghana’s natural resources, are contributing to the worsening problem of illegal mining in the country.
The prophet expressed frustration, saying that if he were personally involved in galamsey, he would have been arrested a long time ago. However, he pointed out that since those in power, including officials responsible for protecting the forest, are part of the illegal mining activities, the situation continues to get worse. He emphasized that this involvement by the very people who are supposed to uphold the law is a major reason why galamsey remains a significant issue in Ghana.
Prophet Oduro also called for stronger actions to stop illegal mining in the country. He boldly stated that the only way to effectively fight galamsey is through “instant justice.” He proposed that anyone caught engaging in illegal mining should be shot on sight, arguing that this would serve as a strong deterrent for others who may be tempted to join the illegal activities.
His comments have sparked a lot of debate, with many questioning whether such extreme measures would be effective in curbing the galamsey problem or if they would violate human rights. However, the prophet’s call for immediate and decisive action highlights the urgent need to address the devastating effects of galamsey on Ghana’s environment and resources.
