The Bank of Ghana has released the official exchange rates for Tuesday, May 13, 2025. These rates are based on the average interbank exchange rates used by commercial banks at the end of business on Monday, May 12, 2025.
According to the data, the Ghanaian Cedi (GHS) is being exchanged against the major international currencies—the US Dollar, British Pound, and Euro—at the following rates:
US Dollar (USD):
The buying rate for one US dollar is GH₵12.8836, while the selling rate is GH₵12.8964. This means that if you are selling US dollars to a bank, you will receive GH₵12.8836 per dollar. However, if you are buying dollars from the bank, you will pay GH₵12.8964 for each dollar.
British Pound Sterling (GBP):
The British Pound is being bought at GH₵17.0218 and sold at GH₵17.0401. Just like the dollar, these rates apply to anyone exchanging the pound for cedis or vice versa at a commercial bank.
Euro (EUR):
People who plan to change their money—whether for travel, business, or savings—are advised to check the latest rates at their local banks or forex bureaus. The rates can change daily depending on the demand for foreign currencies and the strength of the Ghanaian economy.
