In a rare display of bipartisan support, the Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has publicly endorsed Kofi Adams, the newly appointed Minister for Sports and Recreation.
Adams, who recently replaced Mustapha Ussif of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has already begun earning plaudits for his proactive engagement with various sporting federations across the country as reported by Ghana Web.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, Jerry Ahmed, who also doubles as the President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation, expressed his optimism about Adams’ tenure.
He praised Adams’ approach and willingness to engage with stakeholders in the sports sector, calling it a promising start to what could be a successful term.
“From how Kofi Adams has started as the Sports Minister, if he can go on the same path, then he will succeed, and for me, no matter my political affiliation, I will support him to succeed,” Ahmed stated.
The Weija-Gbawe MP’s comments come at a time when political divisions often hinder collaborative governance, especially in key sectors like sports, where national pride and talent development are at stake. Ahmed’s endorsement is significant not only for its content but also for the unity it represents in Ghana
