Ghana President John Mahama, in a latest development, has announced the important ties between the European Union and Ghana on trade, which is targeted to boost the economy of the country.
According to the video that was shared on the official YouTube channel of Joy News TV, the president, while addressing the men of the press, highlighted the benefits that the collaboration will bring to Ghana as he aims to make progress in strengthening the relationship between Ghana and important organisations around the world.
According to Mahama during his address, he said, “The wealth order is changing from multilateral rules-based business to a unilateral and transactional relationship.
We are proud of our relationship with the European Union, and our trade relationship with the European Union remains robust and mutually beneficial.
According to the United Nations countries database on international trade in 2024, the EU imported approximately 3.25 billion dollars worth of goods in Ghana and exported a total of 3.65 billion dollars wealth of goods to Ghana. It is worth mentioning overall that Ghana’s total export in 2024 reached a high of 294.9 billion Ghana cedis, which approximately stands at 20.4 billion US dollars, and Ghana recorded a trade surplus overall of 44.7 billion Ghana cedis.”
