The year 2025 has brought sadness to many Ghanaians as the country has lost several well-known celebrities. Below is a list of some Ghanaian celebrities who have passed away this year:
1. Dada KD
Highlife legend Dada KD, whose real name was Nana Kwaku Duah, died on Friday, 16th May 2025. His death came just days before he was scheduled to perform in London. Known for timeless songs such as Tekyere Ma, Honey Love, and Fatia Fata Nkrumah, Dada KD was loved for his emotional voice and powerful lyrics. His passing has left a huge gap in the music industry.
2. Teddy Osei
Teddy Osei, the founder and leader of the famous Afro-pop band Osibisa, passed away on January 14, 2025, in London. He was 89 years old. Teddy Osei helped put African music on the world stage and was respected globally for his talent and contribution to music.
3. Mawuli Semevo
Veteran actor Mawuli Semevo died on February 20, 2025. He lost his life after suffering serious burns in a fire accident. Mawuli was known for his roles in popular Ghanaian movies like A Stab in the Dark and the  TV series YOLO. His death is a big loss to the movie industry.
Abdullai Tahiru, popularly known as Taidu from the comedy series Junka Town, died on February 9, 2025. His sudden death shocked many fans. Taidu was loved for his humor and acting style. The cause of his death was not made public.
5. Wilberforce Mfum
Former Ghanaian footballer Wilberforce Mfum passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 88. He was a key player for the Ghana national team in the 1960s and helped shape the history of Ghanaian football.
6. Asoma Banda
