A serious accident occurred on Monday, 26th May, 2025 at Mallam Junction involving a police motor rider and an Okada rider. The police officer, who was escorting a black V8 vehicle, was badly injured and rushed to the hospital.
According to an eyewitness, the incident happened when the convoy was moving at top speed. The Okada rider suddenly crossed the road without checking. This caused the police motorbike to lose control. The motorbike hit the Okada, and the police officer was thrown off. His head reportedly hit the pavement hard.
People nearby quickly rushed to the scene. Some tried to help the police officer, who was lying on the ground in pain. He was later taken to the hospital in the same V8 vehicle he was escorting. His condition was said to be very serious at the time.
The Okada rider was also injured but not as badly as the police officer. He was helped by some bystanders and later taken to the hospital by another motor rider.
Traffic at Mallam Junction was blocked for a while as more police officers arrived at the scene to control the situation. Many people stopped to look, while others took videos and shared them on social media.
Some Ghanaians have raised concerns about how fast convoys move on the road. They believe such accidents could be avoided if both convoy drivers and other road users followed road safety rules.
As of now, the identity of the injured police officer has not been made public. It is also not clear who was inside the V8 vehicle that was being escorted.
The police say they are investigating the accident and will give more updates soon.
