Renowned Ghanaian media personality and host of Good Morning Ghana, Paul Adom Otchere, has disclosed a startling incident involving a failed attempt by National Security operatives to detain him at the airport on Sunday, May 25, 2026.
During his show, Paul recounted that he had traveled to the United Kingdom over the weekend. However, upon his return to Ghana, he began receiving alarming messages from friends who warned him that National Security agents were planning to arrest him, similar to the actions taken against fellow journalist Adu Boahene.
Paul shared that some people perceive his outspoken style on the show as excessive and believe he needs to be “taught a lesson.” He revealed that as soon as he arrived at the airport, he noticed unusual activity around the terminal, heightening his suspicion.
The tension escalated when an anonymous caller contacted him, urging him to abandon his luggage and leave the airport immediately for his own safety.
“I observed something strange when I got to the terminal. Then, this person called me and told me to go home straight away and leave my bags behind,” Paul explained.
Taking the warning seriously, Paul headed directly to a friend’s residence at Burma Camp to seek refuge. Later, he contacted the same person who had advised him earlier. The caller cautioned him against traveling outside the country anytime soon, revealing that there were plans to fabricate a scandal against him, mirroring what had happened to Adu Boahene.
This revelation has sparked widespread concern among Ghanaians, with many questioning why a journalist would face such treatment simply for expressing his opinions. Calls have since intensified for National Security to provide clarification and uphold the fundamental right to freedom of speech.
