Dr. Bryan Acheampong, a Member of Parliament for Abetifi and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, has made an important announcement to all members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). On Thursday, May 29, 2025, he shared that he has set up a special committee to explore the idea of becoming the NPP’s next presidential candidate.
According to Dr. Acheampong, many party members from across the country have encouraged him to take this step. He also spoke with his family and supporters before making the decision. The new committee will travel across Ghana to meet with NPP supporters, important party figures, and regular citizens. Their goal is to find out if Dr. Acheampong’s ideas match what people want for the future of the party and the country. The committee will give its final report in four weeks.
Dr. Acheampong said that the team he has chosen is serious about key issues like job creation, food security, youth development, better infrastructure, safety, and good leadership. He believes these are areas where Ghana must improve to move forward.
Speaking about his journey in the party, Dr. Acheampong said that he has been committed to the NPP for many years. He started as a grassroots organiser, worked as a party staff member, served as a Member of Parliament for four terms, and also became a Cabinet Minister. Over the years, he has also supported the party financially. These experiences, he said, have given him a deep understanding of the hard work and vision needed to help the party grow.
He ended his message by encouraging all NPP members to stay united, disciplined, and hopeful. He believes the NPP has what it takes to lead Ghana to a brighter future again.
Dr. Acheampong now joins other big names in the NPP who are getting ready to play key roles in the party’s future, especially as the 2028 general elections approach.
