Soul-life singer, Eldah Naa Abiana Dickson, better known as Abiana, has revealed why she was emotional in her song, “Adun Lei.”
The musician seemed to have poured all her emotions into the video of the song and sung it passionately as she shed tears.
She stated that the song was inspired by her first heartache, which occurred in 2015. She wrote the lyrics and decided to record it while trying to console herself by singing with her guitar.
She spoke in an interview on Shobiz TV Morning SUN UP on Tuesday with Daphine.
“In 2015, heartbreak inspired Adun Lei.” It came to me as I was chopping the object. The lyrics began to fall while I was holding my guitar.
“But I wanted to write it in such a way that when it’s criticized, people won’t interpret the storyline as a heartbreak,” the singer explained.
So, in order to maintain its relevancy, the “Adun Lei” hitmaker penned the song humorously, utilizing the name of a local dish.
“Adun Lei,” as it is known in Ga, is a Ghanaian delicacy that is tough to chew and can be crunchy at times. It is eaten in pieces due to its hardness.
Therefore, “I felt like in this relationship that I was in, the person was using that strategy where he abandons me and pick me up anytime he likes. Treating me like “Adun Lei.”
Abiana backed an award for becoming Ghana’s Best Female Vocalist at the VGMA in 2021 for her performance on the song ‘Adun Lei’ after she beat five other respectable and very talented vocalists, Efe Grace, Yaayaa, Adina, Cina Soul, and Enuonyam, to win the coveted award.
Meanwhile, the singer is out with another intriguing song titled “Far Away,” featuring Fameye.
