Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is close to leaving the club after agreeing to terms with Marseille.
Since joining Chelsea for £10.3 million from Barcelona last September, the 34-year-old has only scored three goals in 22 games.
Notably, Aubameyang has been left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the United States, implying that he will leave soon.
Several players departed the club during the summer transfer window, including Kai Havertz, who joined Arsenal, and Mason Mount, who joined Manchester United.
Despite joining Chelsea under the supervision of Thomas Tuchel, with whom he had previously worked at Borussia Dortmund, Aubameyang faced a difficult period once Tuchel was removed.
Aubameyang was often kept out of the Champions League squad during Graham Potter’s reign, with Havertz being chosen in the striker post.
While he did play under Frank Lampard following Potter’s departure in April, Aubameyang struggled to make an impact on the field. With only a year left on his contract, the Gabonese international appears to be on his way out of Chelsea.
