The Ghana Health Service (GHS) will hold the 7th National COVID-19 Vaccination Days (NaCVAD-7) from Wednesday, July 19, to Sunday, July 23, 2023, with the goal of immunizing one million people.
According to the Service, 10 million of the country’s more than 30 million individuals have fully got the immunizations, with the remainder yet to be vaccinated or undergo complete vaccination.
The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, stated at a news conference to kick off the statewide exercise that the virus exists despite rumors to the contrary.
He reiterated the declaration of the WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on May 5 this year that though COVID-19 ceases to be a public health emergency of international concern, the virus still lingers around.
Meanwhile, WHO Country Representative, Dr. Argata Guracha Guyo, has given assurance of the organisation’s commitment to support Ghana in achieving herd immunity against COVID-19.
