John Dumelo, an actor and politician, has stated his desire to drive from Ghana to South Africa.
In a Twitter post, he said “I want to drive from Ghana to South Africa.”
His comments come after Wanderlust Ghana, a group of 13 daring Ghanaians, set out on a 10,000-kilometer road adventure from Accra to London.
On Sunday, July 23, 2023, they began their journey from Accra to Dormaa, passing through Aburi, Nsawam, Kumasi, and Sunyani before entering Cote d’Ivoire via Golokrom.
They began the voyage as a party of 12 individuals, driving five different Ghanaian-registered vehicles, including a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, two Toyota Landcruisers (V8), a Lexus RX 350, and a Ford F150 Raptor.
The number of passengers on their journey eventually decreased owing to other factors, but the historic journey continued with the others on board.
On average, the group drove 800 to 900 kilometers per day.
The adventurous group made it to Monaco by Friday, August 4, 2023, having moved through five African countries, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, and Morocco, and entered Europe by ferry on the Mediterranean to Algeciras in Spain, before driving to Barcelona via Valencia.
