Wiyaala, popularly known as the Lioness of Africa, is well-known for her powerful vocals and high-energy performances.
Her mix of traditional African rhythms and modern inspirations has earned her international acclaim.
Wiyaala’s music has gained popularity not only because of its catchy melodies and fascinating performances, but also because of its important lyrics that address societal issues and promote African identity.
The award-winning singer-songwriter comes from Sissala in Northern Ghana. Wiyaala translates to “the doer” in her native tongue.
Her Afro pop songs are frequently performed in English or the Sissala-Waala languages. Her ability has carried her all around Africa and the world.
Wiyaala’s music references West African Folk traditions and contemporary Afro-Pop, sometimes evoking comparisons with African stars such as Mariam Makeeba, Brenda Fassie and Angelique Kidjo.
