Ghanaian social media spaces have erupted to news that highly-rated Afrobeats sensation, Olivetheboy, has been named in an official Chartmetrics list of the Top 5 Most Streamed Ghanaian artistes of the first half of the year 2023.
He wasn’t merely given a name. He exceeded it. According to the article, prominent artists King Promise and Stonebwoy were all included in the list, while Black Sheriff, Gyakie, and golden boy KiDi may have been the most unfortunate to not make the Top 5.
According to a survey created by the illustrious music data analytics juggernauts Chartmetrics and Soundcharts, Ghanaian musicians and their songs were streamed on Spotify, Audiomack, Tiktok, Boomplay, and YouTube between January and June 2023.
Although Into the Future by Stonebwoy and King Promise’s Terminator have both received praise, the biggest surprise may still be Olivetheboy’s 20-year-old rookie replacement of culture heavyweights KiDi and Black Sheriff.

Olive who??!! Olivetheboy…
Olivetheboy shot to prominence in May 2023 after debuting the hit single, Goodsin- presently the most Shazamed song in Ghana and Nigeria. The single is also the fastest Ghanaian song by a rookie to reach ten million digital streams after blowing up on Tiktok following a challenge started by entertainer and influencer, Endurance Grand.
Goodsin by Olivetheboy, according to Chartmetrics, is the longest trend for a Ghanaian song on Tiktok (2023), most streamed Ghanaian song of 2023, and most charted, peaking #1 on several major music charts on the continent.
And now those feats have been judged to be worth the weight in gold, confirming Olivetheboy as the Chartmetric foremost ranked Ghanaian artiste in 2023, drowning all else. Wow. Some feat that is!
