Ghanaian gospel artist Gifty Adorye, popularly known as Empress Gifty, has offered advice to women facing difficult marriages, encouraging them to leave if they are not being treated right by their husbands.
She expressed concern over why some women tolerate being taken for granted by their spouses, leading to depression when they could choose to start anew.
Empress Gifty emphasized that women in troubled marriages shouldn’t be overly concerned about societal opinions regarding their inability to maintain their marriages. Instead, they should prioritize their peace of mind.
In a video shared on her social media platform, she questioned why women would endure mistreatment and heartbreak, urging them not to let societal pressures and criticisms determine their decisions.
“Why would a beautiful woman like you sit down for a man to give you a broken heart? Why would you sit down your whole life for a man to give you depression? Because we are too concerned about what others will say like ‘You’ve divorced already and another marriage couldn’t succeed, what am I going to tell my relatives?’ Do they matter?”
She pointed out that divorce, when the situation warrants it, can be a path to a happier and healthier life. She advised women not to be disheartened by marital challenges, as these difficulties can lead to better opportunities.
“Now that you’re alive and you know good and bad, run away from anything that will cost you your happiness. A woman who thinks society can determine her future, and her life has come to an end due to a situation. I want to tell you that it is the start of something God wants to do in your life. If he is leaving, let him go because he does not deserve a peaceful and beautiful woman like you,” said Empress Gifty .
Empress Gifty concluded by encouraging women to value their happiness and well-being above all else.
She suggested that if a man is leaving, it might be a step towards a brighter future, and women should not hesitate to let go of toxic relationships for the sake of their peace and contentment.
