The Ghana Health Service (GHS) will hold the 7th National COVID-19 Vaccination Days (NaCVAD-7) from Wednesday, July 19, to Sunday, July 23, 2023, with the goal of immunizing one million people.
According to the Service, 10 million of the country’s more than 30 million individuals have fully got the immunizations, with the remainder yet to be vaccinated or undergo complete vaccination.
The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, stated at a news conference to kick off the statewide exercise that the virus exists despite rumors to the contrary.
He reaffirmed the remark made by WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on May 5, this year, that while COVID-19 is no longer a public health emergency of worldwide concern, the virus still exists.
Meanwhile, Dr. Argata Guracha Guyo, WHO Country Representative, has assured Ghana of the organization’s commitment to assisting the country in achieving herd immunity against COVID-19.
