Mr Logic, an artist manager and entertainment critic, has defended former Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Madam Cecilia Dapaah, calling her detractors shortsighted and harsh in labeling her a thief.
Mr Logic pointed out in a submission on UTV’s United Showbiz yesterday, July 22, that it was not outrageous for a person of Madam Dapaah’s caliber to have $1 million in her hands at home.
He further stated that it was not out of the ordinary for her to have such big sums of money because she had earned them and had not necessarily stolen from state coffers, as the court of public opinion suggests.
Mr Logic stated that the former minister was being truthful when she offered to assist authorities with their inquiry, which was misconstrued, casting her in a poor light and causing her to leave.
“The woman is not a thief; people stole her money, and she wanted to be honest because she is a public official, so she stepped down for investigations.” I don’t see why people think it’s outrageous that she has that much money. I think it’s a bit shortsighted to think that way, so I don’t agree with people who claim she stole the money.
“If someone wants to save money at home, whether it’s for a project or family money or something else, all of a sudden, all of you are labeling her as a thief.” When I commented that individuals should look for their own money and quit criticizing the prosperity of others, I received so many insults that I had to switch off the comment session.
“People prefer to be poor rather than rich, so when they see others living their best lives, they label them as thieves or assume they’re doing something wrong,” he explained.
The former minister announced her resignation from her post in a letter issued and signed on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
Her resignation follows a court case in which two of her house helps and others are standing trial for allegedly stealing $1 million, €300,000 and millions of cedis from her Ablekuma residence, courting huge public backlash.
