A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck the Alaska Peninsula region early Sunday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), prompting a tsunami warning for adjacent areas.
The USGS lowered the earthquake’s magnitude from 7.4 to 32.6km, down from 9.3km previously.
The United States Tsunami Warning System issued a tsunami warning for South Alaska, the Alaska Peninsula, and Pacific locations near the earthquake.
