Entertainment Pundit and PRO of 3Music Awards, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng has diverged on the idea of granting Ghanaian artists a diplomatic passport.
H.E. Anne Sophie Avé, a former French diplomat in Ghana, proposed that Ghanaian artists be issued diplomatic passports.
Her proposition is founded on the notion that these artists promote and sell the nation through their talents, therefore providing them such power will elevate their works and the objective of pushing national interest to the globe.
Ms. Vida stated on UTV Showbiz that it would be disastrous if these musicians were awarded this privilege, leaving the others out.
“The issue now is who gets the privilege, there is no proper catalog to show, and based on what merit should they be granted this privilege? There is a difference between working for Ghana and giving the nod to promote Ghana.
“The president hasn’t given them the nod to promote Ghana, but it is nice to go out there and promote the nation during your tour but you are not obliged to, so let’s establish that fact.
“It will be chaotic should some be giving these privileges without others, the structure isn’t solid, we can do better by starting from the basics and putting the right structures in place.
